What’s up everyone?
This week has been a
pretty odd one, we have had a lot of good times going around teaching, and some
odd people that we have met.
First experience of
the week was right after we got rejected at the last door we were going to try
before our dinner appointment with a member family. We walked over to our bikes,
and walked them to the end of this drive, to wait for a the main street we were
on to clear, so we could cross. While we wait this group of girls (probably 7th
graders) come around the corner and then call out to us asking who we are and
what we do, while walking toward us. We had seen these girls walking two
streets over and they had yelled at us calling our bikes sexy and yelling out
their #'s. So I, seeing that the road is clear to go, try to ride away. But before Elder Israelsen can get going,
they are in front of him complementing his tie, and calling him hot
and other stuff. Haha! I had no idea what to do to get him out of there,
so he just had to sit there awkwardly and deflect their comments until they
finally walked away. Ha ha, poor guy.
We also had the
opportunity to participate in a bonfire that some members had- to burn all of
the stuff their sons, now ex-girlfriend, had sent him since she did him dirty,
and “Dear Johned” him with a wedding announcement.
Another cool
experience we had this week was when we went and followed up with one of the
people we met a little bit ago. The first time we met him he didn't seem like
he was super interested in what we were saying, and didn't look like he was
paying much attention to us. He didn't have enough time for us to go through
the whole restoration with him, so we had to end early. But this time when
we saw him, he was happy to see us. We asked him if he remembered what we
talked about last time. He couldn't at first, but once we started
reviewing it he remembered it, and even stated that he was paying pretty close
attention last time. So we finished the restoration with him and he liked it a
lot, and told us we could for sure come back. He even gave us an acronym for
the bible, "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth". It was a pretty
good time.
Well I love you all,
and hope you have an awesome week and pretty soon an awesome summer! Good luck
with state track, that is coming up soon!
