Investigators

Hey everyone,

This week has been pretty cool. We have had some good success with tracting and finding new investigators. Also we just got a call the other day from some missionaries in Florida and they told us that an investigator we had that moved down there is going to get baptized in two Saturdays! His name is A and I’m super happy he has finally made the decision to be baptized!

We have run into a new investigator named B, he is from Puerto Rico and seems super awesome. We had our first official lesson with him last night and it was great! An issue we often have out here is that when we are teaching, people just agree with you on everything you say even if they don’t understand. But Bill was with us the whole time asking clarifying questions and participating in the lesson.  it was awesome. I have high hopes for him.

We also have another investigator named J that is currently in the hospital because of his dialysis and other issues, he is currently on a list for a kidney transplant. Please pray for him that he will be able to receive the help he needs to get healthy again.

Love all of you!

20, Elder costa, M

Hey everyone,

This week has been a good week, we had some good time finding people and even found 6 new Spanish families! So that was fun. Also I turned 20 yesterday, thanks everyone who sent birthday cards and emails, I really appreciate it!

We had a great time this week having another General Authority come and visit us. We had Elder Costa of the Seventy come and talk to us. He is from Brazil but he knows English and Spanish so we were talking to him at lunch in Spanish and it was way fun! He gave us a lot of good advice that makes me excited for the work we will be able to do with smart phones and with working with members. He stressed to us how much the First Presidency trusts us and I thought that was really cool.  It really does take a lot of trust to place a lot of the growth of the church in the hands of 18-21 year-olds.

Also we meet with an awesome new investigator this week named M. She is a girl from Honduras that has lived in the states for about 4 years. She is really cool. We taught her about the Book of Mormon and she seems like she will for sure run with it and read it. She even told us she wanted to come to church and youth group meetings. And her niece might come with her so it was a great time!

Love you all, I hope you have an awesome week!

New church leaders, regional broadcast, N

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing well.

Things are going well for us here in Lafayette, we have been having fun teaching and getting to know the area and members. There are a lot of great people here.

One of the highlights, but also sad things about this week, is that I was able to watch the funeral for President Monson, it was a great event, and I loved to hear all the talks. We are going to miss that amazing man; but I know that he is where he wants to be, which is on the other side with his wife. And I am very grateful for this church and the fact that there is a succession of prophets and I know we will be guided well by our new prophet President Nelson.

We had a great Sunday this last week and had the opportunity to hear from Elder Bednar.  He gave a talk about repentance and the importance of it. One of my favorite lines in this was when he stated that repentance is not true if you do not feel a desire to become more like Christ as you go through it.  Just changing a behavior is not enough. I thought that was very cool seeing as we are using Christ’s own sacrifice to repent, and the whole purpose of us on this earth is to become more Christlike.

We also had a lesson with a man named N this week. He is a nice guy that only recently was released from jail, he is a super great guy and he loves Christ. He was actually watching a movie about Christ when we showed up to his home. And his sister is also interested in hearing our message so we are excited to work with them.

That is the week, I hope y’all have a great week.
