Transfer 9

What is up y’all? We just got transfer calls here and I will be staying in Morgan city for another transfer and sadly my comp elder Isrealsen is leaving to go somewhere else.  Pray that I get an awesome comp cuz I’m definitely losing an awesome one.

This week has been a pretty difficult one, we haven’t had a lot of success in the way of investigators. We tried to visit all of them and they all were either not home or did the Spanish way of saying that they don’t want anymore lessons-- which is to peak out a window and see you, and then go hide in their house and refuse to answer the door. It is so sad when that happens, especially when it seems that these people have so much potential.

There was a pretty funny incident that happened recently that involves one of the other Elders living in the same apartment as me. Some of you might know him since he is from Kaysville, his name is Elder Glissmeyer. So what happened is that he was sleeping and then woke up a little bit before the alarm to get hum when he realized he had a problem..... a pretty serious problem..... he couldn’t see! Of course he starts to panic a little bit and does all the tests he can. He waves his and in front of his face to see if he can see it and then he looks towards the door to see if he can see the light that always comes from underneath it. And after not seeing either of these he turns and is about to yell at the rest of us to wake us up, when he realizes the solution to his problem..... he was so groggy that he had forgotten to open his eyes and this is what caused is temporary blindness. Hahaha. Poor guy, he has been working too hard.

Hahahaha so there you go, another one of the weird things that sometimes happens on a mission.

Love y’all

Hello new presdog and goodbye.......half the Spanish missionaries

Hey y’all, what is going on? I hope all of y’all had a awesome 4th of July!

This week has been full of craziness. We are losing literally half of the Spanish missionaries this transfer, it is nuts! After this my transfer and the transfer right before mine are going to be the majority of the missionaries in this mission. We also had the opportunity to meet our brand new mission president and his wife yesterday! They are awesome people and I know they will be a great for this mission.

This week we had a little bit of a struggle with our current investigators, most of them that we tried to get with either canceled or weren’t home when we came over, so that was a little bit of a bummer. But we did get to meet two awesome families this week. It always is an awesome thing when someone actually lets you in to teach them a lesson after a day of tough tracting. When we run into people willing to listen it is a massive relief. One of the lady's name is A. Scared us when we ran into her cuz she looks like a white lady. So when we see her we started talking in English and did the whole door approach just to have her be like, “uhhhhhhh no enteindo ingles.” Then we promptly reassured her that we speak Spanish and we had a really great lesson with her.

A cool moment this week was when we were visiting N and D when we went down to NOLA for Zone conference (N is the member we had to rebaptize in La Place and her husband is an investigator). We were at their house to say hi and catch up a little bit and it was way fun. But we all got talking and D always has a lot of questions he likes to ask; and so he started asking how people become missionaries for our church. We told him that we have to go through the process of filling out mission papers and having interviews to see if we have followed the commandments enough and are prepared enough to go on the mission. After explaining that to him he said, "so I guess it is a privilege to be able to go on a mission." That was something that I had never really thought about, but it is for sure true. It really is a privilege to be able to go on a mission and serve the lord for two years. That is something that is easy to forget on a mission especially if you are being constantly beaten down by rejection. But I am so glad that I was reminded about how much of a privilege this really is, and how great this work is. I know that even those people that don’t accept the gospel right when you teach them are still being blessed from the little bit you have taught them, and that God sees your efforts to spread his word.

I love y’all and hope you have an awesome week!

La semana final de presidente Hansen

Hey y’all,

This week is the last week that I will be having with my mission president President Hansen. He and his wife finish their 3 year mission this Friday! It is so crazy that this day has come, I remember thinking when I first came to the mission that I would have just under a year with my first mission president before I got a new one and now here I am, about 6 weeks from hitting my year mark and my mission president is leaving... crazy.

This week has been pretty crazy even without president leaving. We started out this week with a hurricane warning because a tropical storm was rolling in that could potentially turn into a hurricane. On Monday we got a text saying that we might be on lock down for Tuesday and Wednesday. But don’t worry, it ended up not being that bad for us and the majority of the storm missed, we still got a ton of rain and got pretty dang soaked but no hurricane or flooding. It’s pretty nuts being down here with a lot different weather than that in Utah. In Utah we were worried about tons of snow or the earthquake that should have happened a long time ago or maybe even a drought, down here we worry about too much flooding, tornados, and hurricanes. I’m trading one set of problems for another - haha.

Sadly this week we have some bad news with the girl and her mom that we met last week, named G and Y, we went to teach them and the father was there this time, pretty much he separated us from the rest of them.  We had a talk which was going pretty well until we brought up religion and he pretty much told us not to come back but that he would look into our prophet.  Pray he does go on lds.org like we told him and that he does have a good experience so we can teach that awesome family again.

Even though we lost G and Y we did meet some pretty awesome people. We met two families while tracting in Amelia and I absolutely love it when you ask people if they have ever wondered why there are so many Christian churches in the world and they say they have; and they have actually pondered on it quite a bit. We had both of these families have one member that said that, and we had super good experiences teaching both of them, and they both invited us to come back! I’;l keep you informed and I’ll try to help you keep these people straight, my brother informed me this week that he cannot keep track of my investigators since I forget to remind y’all of who is who so sorry about that.

Well I hope that y’all have an awesome week, enjoy your summer! We are already 1/3 through!
